ANDERS DAWIDSON - A TIME LINE

Year 1949

Dawidson, Lars Anders born January 1949 in Karlskoga. Growing up on Nedre Trädgårdsgatan where I lived with my grandfather, mother, father and a brother.

Year 1954

I started in the 'Barnträdgården' on Skolgatan (where Torpdalshemmet is today)

Year 1956

I started in Folkskolan (the public school). The first two years, grades 1 and 2 were at Sandmo school on Bredgårdsgatan with Ragnhild Andersson as the teacher.

Year 1958

I moved to Rävås School for year 3 and Carl Wikström was the class teacher up to and including year 7. The last school year, year 8 ended in 1964 with Katarina Göranzon as teacher.

Year 1962

I started working on Amaryllis Blomsterhandel (florist) as a courier for Ebba and Ragnar Pettersson.

The same year, the "new" slalom slope in Lustighej was opened. I have probably skied as long as I have been able to walk, but now it was time to try slalom. The first "big" investment in alpine equipment was low attachment points for the cable bindings, so the boots were fixed in place with the wooden skis. It was probably about 3-5 Swedish crowns. There were two ways to get from Nedre Trädgårdsgatan to Lustighej, either you strapped the skis on a pushbike or, as was often the case, put the skis on your feet at home and ride via Torpdalen, Nickkälla, and over Rävåskullen in pitch darkness. A few hours of skiing on the slope and then the same way home. We skied a lot until a boy from Tärnaby came and "ruined" half the fun. To stand 10-15, or maybe 20 minutes in the lift line after just a few minutes of skiing was not fun at all. It took many years for the Swedish ski facilities to solve the queueing problem and catch up with the great interest in alpine skiing that was started by the greatest skier of all time, Ingmar Stenmark, from Tärnaby. Today, I still like to ski in some nice ski resort, unfortunately, there is usually a lack of snow in Skåne

Year 1964

After an interrupted office course and a short time as a courier at Karlskoga Tidning (newspaper) so I start working on

Motorfirma Bror Segerström, at Kungsvägen 39. Later the company moved to Värmlandsvägen and changed its name to Segerströms Motor, I stayed there until the summer of 1969.

During my youth, a lot of time was spent in nature, for instance at Kilsbergen and Karlskoga Biological Association. A lot of time was also spent on photography. However, my interest in photography was put on hold when the interest in rallying took off but was picked up again when I moved to Helsingborg. Read more about this below PHOTO. The bowling alley (formerly Centralbio) was a place where much time was also spent, there were always some friends to hang out with. Time was often passed with mini-bowling, pinball machines, billiards, and a jukebox. Karin and Nils Johansson ran this hall as a private youth center. It was located at the intersection between Skolgatan and Kanongatan (E18).

Rallying was the hobby that took over my interest. My first motorsport memory is from the end of the 50s and then it continued until 2016. You can read about this under the RALLY heading.

Year 1970

I started in the industry that I have since had as my profession. Land building/Park/Garden. I started at Skånska cementgjuteriet (later Skanska) in Karlskoga. I then worked with reinforced concrete, took some shorter garden courses, and worked at the garden Service in Örebro before continuing my education.

Year 1972 and 1976-77

During the autumn semester, I studied at Statens Trädgårdsskola (State School of Gardening) in Norrköping, a basic education. In the academic year 1976-77 I decided to further my education at the same school in Norrköping.

Year 1977

Sailing became a big part of my free time. First with a wooden archipelago cruiser, Neptun 12. Then, in 1979, an Albin Express number 92 was acquired and renamed "La Fleur". It was used for a lot of sailing around Vänern but also during a summer in the Blekinge archipelago. The latest sailboat was a Comfort 34, "Yggdrasil", but then my interest in motorsport took off again and the boat was sold to Stockholm.

Year 1979

I moved to Småland to work at Markaryd Municipality.

Year 1981

I moved to Karlstad and started a job at Sten och Vägarbeten (Stone and Roadworks).

Year 1983

After a short time in Karlstad, I once again moved, this time to Lidköping to work at Vara Municipality. I stayed here for a longer time.

Year 1992-93

It was time for school again, this time at Alnarp in Skåne (SLU), studying to become a gardening technician. After that, there was a bit of miscellaneous work in Lidköping, before it was time to move again.

Year 1999

I received, in April of this year, an offer to substitute for 3 months at the City of Helsingborg park department (Entek). There was a lot to be built and done before the big exhibition H99, so some extra people were needed. My thought was that after 3 months, it be vacation time and then the staff would be needed for an additional 3 months. It would be great, a summer in Helsingborg. And it is through that path that things progressed, in 2019 I celebrated 20 years in the city's service. When I came to Helsingborg, I resumed my interest in photography, in my youth it was with film in the camera, but now digitization had become the new way to store photos. You can read more and see some of the results under both TRAVELS and PHOTO.

Year 2009

This year a motorcycle was acquired, BMW R 1200 RT, and many trips, both short and long around Europe were taken with it. Join me on my adventures under TRAVELS

Year 2020

It was finally time to become a full-time pensioner after being an hourly employee and part-time senior consultant for a few years, a change in life.
